Important Quarantine Information for Travellers and Businessess in Papua New Guinea

The introduction of exotic pests, insects and disease or unwanted animal, plant species would seriously endanger the health of plants and animals here in Papua New Guinea and the Countries we export our products to overseas.

To minimize this risk, NAQIA’s Quarantine Officers check agriculture items entering and leaving PNG through sea ports and airports.

If you are visiting PNG or returning from an overseas trip, kindly assist us by observing the list of items that are “allowed entry” and those that are “not allowed entry”.

NOT ALLOWED ENTRY
Dogs, Cats and other small animals:
• Birds, Nests, Feathers, Poultry Products:
• Eggs, Egg Products, Used Egg
  Containers and Noodles containing Eggs:
• Meat: Fresh, Frozen, Dried, Canned:
• Live Fish Live Insects:
• Dairy Products:
• Biological Cultures, Organisms,
  Animal Semen:
• Honey, Pollen, Other Bee Products:
• Animals Bone, Horn and Skin
  (unmanucfactured):
• Soil Straw and Straw articles
• Flowers and Seeds:
• Live Plants, Cuttings, other
  Propagative materials:
• Cereals, Unmanufactured Whole Grains:
• Fresh Fruit and Vegetables
• Used Sacking:

ALLOWED ENTRY
  Biscuits, Cakes, Confectionary (cooked or commercially manufactured):
• Processed Plant Products for Consumption: such as Flour, Tea, Coffee, Jams,    crystallized:
• Fruit, Bread, Nuts, (peanuts must be roasted)
  Breakfast cereals:
• Fruit & Vegetable: must be Canned or Bottled in wet condition,
  Dried or Frozen, in Commercial Packs:
• Fish: Cooked, Dried or Preserved (except Salmon and Trout):
• Manufactured wooden items:
• Commercially Tanned Leather and Skin Items:
• Up to one (1) kilogram of Baby Food containing Milk per infant.
